Prerequisite

  • Basic knowledge in physics.
  • Fundamental tools in signal and image processing.

Objectives of the lecture

To describe various medical imaging modalities by presenting:

  • their physical principles
  • the acquisition devices
  • the image formation and the corresponding reconstruction techniques
  • the specific image processing problems

Detailed program:

  • Introduction to different imaging modalities (history, classification, ...)
  • X and X-ray Scanner
  • Nuclear Imaging: PET and SPECT
  • Ultrasound
  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging
  • Optical Tomography

Acquired Skills

Knowledge of the main medical imaging techniques and associated issues.
